Ultrasound says maybe pregnant

I am suppose to start my period on Sunday the 20th. I had mid cycle "spotting" after I ovulated this month which I have never experienced before and also have lower abdominal sharp pain off and on. So I took a test today which was a BFN. I am leaving my doctors office now after he performed a vaginal ultrasound. He said everything internally looks like I am in fact pregnant (my ovaries and uterine lining, etc) but too early to tell if I am really pregnant. Have any of you experienced this and were indeed pregnant???? We had miscarriage in May and have been trying since. I am hoping and praying this is finally our month!
