Would you leave your kids for weeks at a time with your parents?

My parents live 8-9 hours away and we're talking about having my son stay with them for some time in the summer. He's 2. Their house is not baby proof. He does love them though I'm sure he'd miss me immensely. Anyway I doubt I'd be comfortable leaving him for that long until he's much much older but I'm curious what you ladies would do.
