episiotomy recovery?

I have a 3rd degree episiotomy, 2 weeks postpartum and the sight is so itchy! Does this mean it's healing? And I get these pinching sensations? If you had an episiotomy, how was recovery for you??

I think my recovery was a bit longer than the average person. I only had a first degree tear but it took nearly 2 months to stop bleeding completely. My stitches tore once also because I had a hard time sitting around so I was up moving around a lot. Probably should have rested more and let myself heal. At my follow up I asked the doctor for some ointment (Premarin) that took the pain away from the area that was bothering me and only needed it for a few days. I used Dermoplast, an irrigation bottle with warm water (I hear saltwater is good too) and used Padsicles on days where I had a lot of pain.

I'm 5 weeks today and no more itching, bleeding or discharge. I had a 2nd degree tear and stictches. I'm still not 100% but ten times better now!

Itching is completely normal. I had pinching, too, with my third degree after my oldest was born.

Yes that means it's healing. The third week was the worst for me as far as pain, but then the pain went away just like that!
