Crib mobiles - necessary or not?

Question

My hubby and I are on the fence about getting mobiles for our twins.  One, we have mini cribs so not all mobiles may fit on them. Two, since there's two of them, I wouldn't want to play music since they wouldn't be synchronized.

We also don't want them to lose out on the benefits of mobiles like motor skills and stimulation.

I was thinking of making my own.  Anyone try this?

They're really unnecessary, more a decor item and for the cuteness factor. I saw this on Etsy and made my own version. It was actually really easy (just felt, embroidery thread, big needle, and cotton balls).
There are tons of diy tutorials for mobiles on Pinterest.

I have a mini crib as well n none of the mobiles that I like fit on it n the ones that do fit I can't stand the music that they play lol. I'll be making my own from examples like these. YouTube will be a major help in this lol

We don't have one bc we have a net to keep out our cats. There is one on her vibrating chair and my friend made one I put above the glider.

I never had them with my first two, and I made the one for this baby, just because I wanted to.

You could just have decorations on the ceiling. The music part was never that important to my son but he did like having something to look at!
