Copper IUD is this normal?

I got the copper Iud inserted on Sunday. Since then I have had majorly bad cramping to the point I can't concentrate and have to take ibprophen just to make it through my work day, I can't sleep either the cramps are so bad. This morning it's so bad even the ibprophen isn't helping and I'm still in pain and drained. Also, as soon as it was inserted my period started and is super heavy. Is this completely normal?

Yes it's normal. Try taking a hot bath and using a heating pad as soon as you get out of the bath. Also make sure to keep pain mess in your system. My cramps lasted about a week

Yes, that's completely normal. For the first 1-2 years, I experienced very heavy periods and extremely bad cramps. I also had random stabbing pains in between periods. My doctor assured me the IUD was placed correctly. Now, after 3.5 years, I barely remember it's there. My periods are normal and the cramps have definitely calmed down.

Your period may always remains heavy, or it may lighten with further cycles. Cramping also will likely subside, though it may make PMS symptoms more noticeable. It's meant to be a hostile environment thus making pregnancy close to impossible, which means generally heavier bleeding and discomfort. I've had both hormonal and now copper and though I've only been on my paraguard for two cycles, my pain has subsided but my flow is still moderately heavy which is normal for me.

Very normal. I had the copper IUD for over a year and my periods were always heavy and bad cramping. The good thing about it though is that it's hormone free, which is why I went on it.

Yes from what I read it is normal. For those reasons I chose not to get the copper iud.
