My son woke up like this this morning and I looked it up and the symptoms of a clogged tear duct and pink eye are so similar. He is 12 days old. He doesn't seem like he is in pain.

Take him to the doctor, that's bad. Try getting all that yellow mucous out too. Yellow means infection.

If it's that bad I would take him to the doctor and get drops for it. I don't think it's pink eye but it looks pretty bad. Just keep putting warm water on to clean and massage his nose a little bit to help get all the nasty stuff flowing and out. Mine had a clogged duct but it was around the time he got a check up and she said to prescribe drops if it got worse.

These are his eyes now. Should I take him in? The top eye is the one that was all goopy this morning

That looks like a tear duct but the difference will be in the whites of his eye is it pink?

If it's a clogged duct massage under the eye by his nose and if you are breastfeeding put a few drops in his eye a few times a day and it should clear up!
