Wedding Planning Tips and Advice?!

Ladies!! I'm so excited! My man and I finally got engaged about 2 weeks ago and we're starting to plan. We don't really know where to start... does anybody have any advice? Anything they wish someone would have told them? What worked/works for you?? Thank you in advance. 😊😘😍

I got married 2 years ago & did A LOT of things myself, I did all the research on venues, food, videographers/photographers, I printed our invitations & made the flower arrangements etc. my hubby helped make decisions but I was the one to narrow things down, figure out how much you're able to spend & then decide from there what matters the most to u. We each figured out how much we could contribute & then my parents offered to help as well & gave me an amount to work with. We tailored our guest list to what we could afford & then looked @ venues that were the right size for that amount of people, the venue we picked had a package deal w/ the food so that killed 2 birds w/ 1 stone, that was the biggest expense so then we figured out priorities from there & what things I felt comfortable doing myself. I'm a professional luxury wedding planner. BUDGET!!! Your guest list also dictates all of the budget, so don't think you can have a wedding for 100 people for $10,000. The average cost of a city wedding for 150 people is well over $100,000. Lots of candles help decor costs stay down. HIRE A PLANNER! They can save you so much time and money by matching you with vendors who are professionals and who do quality work. Good luck!

They have venues that have all inclusive packages (dining, DJ, invitations, set up/tear down, ect.) Those are extremely helpful with organization. Also, don't lose site of why you said yes in the first place :) It is very stressful but keep those date nights going and make quality time available for the both of you to share where you're not talking about wedding plans. 1st things first........discuss your budget!!!  You can't move forward unless you know this realistic number.  Also u need to know who is paying for what.

I do wedding planning on the side and you would be surprised how many couples have no clue where the money is coming from or who is paying for what.

After you iron all that out.....then you can move forward with your plans.   Picking a date and place.  If you have a place that you have always dreamed about....then don't be date specific.  Keep an open mind.

Remember to breathe. Take each other's opinions and wants into account. Be prepared to compromise. Due to family circumstances we had a spring wedding, but my husband wanted a fall wedding. So we had a fall themed wedding in June.

Congrats! Decide on a budget and a venue first, that would be my advice :) also, remember that everything other than your partner and this officiant is icing in the cake- if you cant affors something,let it go. The only thing i /really/ wish i had done was hired a day of coordinator. We were on a strict budget so i got talked out of it by my MIL but i regret it because i was so so so distracted the day of by people asking me questions. If you cant afford one, ask a type a friend who is /not/ an immediate family member to take it on.

I wish I would've hired a wedding planner lol. A wedding planner Didn't fit in our budget. It was a stressful process but just try to keep in mind that no one is going to say "oh I wish she would've chose different colors or different centerpieces" at the end of the day it's about getting to marry the person you love 😊 congratulations!!

Budget!!! We ended up tripling our budget and had an almost $80,000 wedding. Most of which was spent on the venue and food, about $35,000 for 150 guests. I made stupid spending decisions because my original plans fell through. For example I paid $7000 for invitations because my original vendor cancelled on me and I had less time and had to expedite orders. Plus of course I got the glitter and bling all of which costs extra!!!! You don't want to be left with debt after the wedding. Luckily we were able to get by without getting into wedding debt but looking back I wish I had $50,000 of that budget in the BANK!!! Remember that although you notice and care about every little detail.... your guests won't notice them like you do! Good luck!
