Sick before getting bfp?!?

Is it true that often people get sick before you receive their bfp? today I started getting hot and cold flashes and a sore throat. I tested this evening and got what looks to be a vvvfl. I suffer from irregular periods so this means that I can't for sure say when my period should have come.
