For those of you who took castor oil.. did it work??

Castor oil is literally the only thing my OB told me NOT to try. It's so dangerous. Please do your research before you do this if you are planning on it.

I tried to warn my friend against using it because it can be harmful to baby... but she tried anyway and only wound up with severe diarrhea.... it's not recommended to use nowadays! Do some major research before you decide to try it!!!! I'd recommend sex, nipple stimulation, and walking!!!!!!

Not personally but ny friend tried it and it just gave her diarrhea, did not start labor.

I did use it with my second daughter and whether is was coincidental or not it worked, but it was gross!! I threw up while trying to drink it, and then during labor the effects were horrible too, the nurses were very discreet though.... I tried it again (I don't know what I was thinking) with my next pregnancy, and it did nothing but make me gassy and have diahrea, ...  However my midwife has said that it can also be effective if used externally... Apparently massage it on the belly, and then wrap a warm(not hot) towel around your belly to heat it up... She also suggested a layer of plastic wrap between the caster oil and towel to minimize the mess factor.... I have no experience with using it externally, but all other info from her had been accurate, so who knows... Good luck, but don't try to drink it... It's gross
