Hyper or hypothyroidism???

Question

I'm confused. Help please. My thyroid tsh levels were .12. Isn't this Hyper not hypo? I was also diagnosed with hashimotos. Why would I be put on synthroid??! I'm so confused. Been ttc for 2 years and I'm concerned that this will hurt not help!

.12 is definitely hyper, & that does seem backwards to me-- I'm on synthroid for hypo. Ask your dr to explain the plan!

I have Hashimotos as well. Was diagnosed about 12 years ago. For the most part I've been on Levothyroxin except for a few times my dr tried armour thyroid. Levo works best for me though. I've had my dosage adjusted a few times and was monitored very closely through my first pregnancy. My daughter is now 3 and healthy as can be! TTC for #2 now. Good luck to you!

I have hypo, and I recently got pregnant I had a MC at 8 weeks but currently trying again

My dr had all 3 of hers on synthroyid all the medicine does is provide the TSH you require it won't stop you from getting pregnant

I've been on synthroid since my first pregnancy 7 years ago

Nothing to worry about, you might want to see a DR about TTC for 2 years

I have hyperthyroid and my specialist put me on methamazole ( the spelling might be off ) to signal my thyroid to produce less T4. My T3 was low but T4 was like double what it was suppose to be. It seams to be okay now. But I have to get it checked every 6 weeks since I'm TTC.

But I don't understand how synthroid will help me if I'm hyperthyroid... won't I just become MORE hyperthyroid

Nooo it will totally help! Your thyroid plays a HUGE role in growing a baby. If they are too low or too high your baby has a chance of being a slow learner and developer and things like that. It will help for sure!!
