breastfeed and formula at same time?

question- can you breastfeed and alternate it with formula right away?? and use pump to keep your milk flow up?

People are... well I have nothing nice to say so I'll just leave that alone. But I plan to exclusively pump and use formula as well at night I will still pump at night so I can have some Milk saved. I have heard nothing but negative comments about my decision but I just tell myself guess what it's my child and I will do what I want. Don't let these people tell you formula is horrible. Like wtf kinda bs is that if it's so horrible why is it sold? Do what you think is the right choice for your baby and for yourself. You are still a person it's is not all about the baby.

Yes! I combination fed with my daughter because it worked out to be the best option in the end. She's now 12 years old! 
I also have 2 sons one was fully breastfed and the other completely formula fed, they are all healthy and happy. Sometimes with the best will in the world the way you plan to feed your baby just doesn't work out, be flexible!

You can do both. This is your baby. You don't need other women's opinions. Me personally, I wasn't producing enough milk in the beginning at the hospital. I asked them to introduce my 2nd to formula. I'm glad they did ! She was both breastfed and formula fed because of it. When I was admitted back to the hospital 18 days afterbirth for 5 days in the hospital my milk wasn't destroyed. I asked them for an electric pump so I can still pump and dump it. When I got home before she was a month, I went back to breastfeeding and all was normal. Listen to your body, and do what you feel is best for you and your baby. I hope it all works out for you !

You can do whatever works best for you! It all depends on what your long term nursing goals are though on if you want to introduce formula right away because it CAN (not always) affect your supply.

I am currently doing this because my son was born only weighing 5 pounds and the doctors say he needs to gain weight. So I pump but I can only pump a few ounces at a time. So I do one bottle of breast milk and then next feeding is usually formula since I can't pump enough milk right now. A lot of people have to supplement in the beginning until their milk supply starts to come in more. My baby seems to be handling it fine

I did this with my first baby, breast fed during the day and formula bottle fed at night so daddy could take it in turns- also formula fed if out in public- worked for us

Honestly in today's world people judge way too much! Formula is okay if you don't have any way to get a huge supply because sometimes it won't come in fast enough. I had to breast feed the first feeding & then I went ahead & had to pump so while I pumped I feed too. Then I got super tired & the nursery kept my first baby for 4/5 hours because they give meds for pain & I didn't wanna be medicated trying to breastfeed & with so much meds they don't like you to breast feed while taking them sometimes because whatever we eat or put in our bodies comes to baby! So I actually wasn't able to keep my supply up right away be chase barley anything came in. I was able to get enough for the first two feedings & then supplied with formula & that worked for us. So it isn't horrible as people make it sound! If your supply isn't there you can't not feed your baby. So you would have to formula feed. So don't let others tell you any different! It's your baby & you can't control what your body does except what you put into it. & pumping & feeding is key but a lot of women have trouble.
