I have sharp shooting pain in my very upper stomach on the left, just behind my rib cage. What could it be?

I went to the doctor for the same thing. Its usually just constipation. Your intestine has a turning point right there, so sometimes when youre a bit backed up it can be painful. Try a mild stool softener and eat more fiber.

Are you overly anxious or stressed? I've gotten this during an anxiety attack. I would just try to breathe and hopefully it'll pass soon. Did you eat anything funny recently?
