Cramping, HELP

I get really really bad cramping when I'm on my period and when I'm not. My doctors solution was to change my birth control but it's made it worse. Does anyone have tricks they use to help cramping?? I've tried heat packs, naproxen, Advil, essential oils and more. I am willing to try anything at this point, please help!
