How much does your SO help out with baby?

Question

I have struggled with this since my son was born and I have seen other mom's post that their SO's are amazing and some are plain awful.  I'm really curious to see how many people have kids who take on the main role of parenting.

He does as much as me. Wouldnt have even considered a child otherwise. We talked about expectations beforehand and like everything in our relationship we each contribute the same amt.

Mine doesn't do loads with the baby as I'm breastfeeding and he's now back at work but he'll help out around the house and usually finish cooking dinner as the baby will want feeding. He'll walk the dogs in the evening and get me drinks and snacks which means I can relax and rest a bit more. And he tells me I'm doing a great job which is probably the most valuable thing he does as half the time I feel exhausted and that I can't cope.

The only thing my husband doesn't help with is breastfeeding cause he cant 😂😂 he does as much as I do though.. with all 3 kids.. he has even canceled important plans to stay home and be a daddy 😭💕

(By important plans i dont mean with friends, those are not important... I mean legit important plans for work or church)

Mine is amazing. He usually takes over when he gets home from work because he's missed her all day. Every night we work in shifts. He feeds and soothes and puts her to bed by 9-10. Then he will take the monitor and sleep on the couch until around 2 or 3 and he takes that shift. At that point I get the monitor and he comes to bed and I take over from there. He's more than willing to dress her, change her and take her for the day if I go out like I did last weekend for Christmas shopping with my mother and sister. He's wonderful. I wouldn't have had a baby with him otherwise. Hell, I wouldn't have married him if I thought he would be a lack luster father. He always knew kids were in the cards. I'm glad I was right :)

Mine took off when I was 5 months pregnant. I don't have the option of help lol its all me 24/7

My husband has always done the cooking (even before baby). So that is extremely helpful. He is also more of a night owl so he lets me go to sleep first and he takes care of baby (giving her breast milk bottles when needed).

Mine does as much as he can. We're EBF, so he can't really help with that besides bringing me water, but he helps with almost everything else. I'm a bit nervous about when he goes back to work on Thursday.

My hubby works 60+hour weeks but he still picked up the slack when our son was born. When he got up at 5:30am to go to work he changed our sons bum and brought him to me in bed so I can nurse him and fall back to sleep. When he gets home he either spends time with his son or does some of the house work I didn't get to that day. When I was nursing he didn't do all the hands on stuff with our son but he did everything else. And now that we are pregnant with #2 he keeps telling me to take it easy and he knows when this baby is born he is going to have to put more effort into our son so he doesn't feel left out so I can focus on the baby. Through out. My whole pregnancy and motherhood experience he always encourages me and tells me I'm doing a great job and that I'm an amazing mom. Nothing is more special (or sexy for that matter) then a true family man.

My son was born Thanksgiving. My husband was helpful at the hospital and the first day home but then the passed few days he's been next to useless. It's so frustrating. He sleeps 8+ hours a night, the only time he has the baby is when he is sleeping and I have to go to the bathroom. He did let me nap last night while he "watched" the baby for an hour(by watched I mean the baby slept on his chest while he watched football). Idk if it's post partum hormones making me emotional but I feel so overwhelmed being a first time mom and I'd really like of my husband could just help out with house stuff and offer to take care of the baby instead of handing him to me every time he cries saying he's hungry(I'm breastfeeding) when really he needed a diaper change. Idk. I'm super frustrated. I did tell him last night. He asked if I needed someone here with me while he was gone at school all day, I said "Why? Not like I haven't been basically doing this by myself anyway." So maybe he will step it up a little. Sorry.... just realized I was ranting lol
