How can we ever be "done" having children?

Question

Hi everyone, I'm 32 and pregnant with my third son. My first two are absolutely gorgeous little guys. I'm already madly in love with this one. My husband is 40 and he is SO ready to be done having children (has three additional kids from his first marriage). I thought for sure that I would have this final, contented feeling that I was ready to be past the baby stage, but I don't. Heck, I'm 31 weeks pregnant and coming off a night of where my current youngest barely slept. And when I was cuddling him in the middle of the night, I just felt this panicky feeling: "how many more nights will I be able to do this?"

How does one accept the fact that the last one IS the last one?? (No, this doesn't have to do with boys vs. girls; I would gladly keep having children even if they were all boys. I never have had a gender preference.)

I just had twins two weeks ago and we have two older boys, 7yr. and 4 yr. 
I already missbeing pregnant..i love having little humans grow in me!!!!!
Even with the crazyness of twins its sad to think, " this is it".

My husband is pure bred Arab 👌, they LOVE children. He's 44 now, and I'm 32, I'm pregnant with our fourth child. I know for sure I'll have a fifth one before I turn 40 (if God so wishes). I have quite easy pregnancies, easy deliveries, intelligent and calm children, a loving husband who helps me with everything (he cooks in the weekend, he cleans with me, plays with the children or takes them to the park when I'm devastating tired to let me have some sleep,… ). And of course, we both love children. I've read that after 40 years it becomes risky to be pregnant (down syndrome, complications,… ) so I don't know what I will do when I get there… but for now we love having a new child every some years (my children are 9, 6 and 4, next one due in April)

We have 6. I had a 17, 15 and 13 yo. He has a 7 yo. We have a 3 and 1 yo. I'm done. I'm tired, and I'm done. I think he would prefer more. I'm over it. When you're done, you're over it.

My hubby and I always wanted 3 and we have two beautiful daughters now and I'm 36. We want another one, but to me the third and final baby doesn't seem like it'll satisfy my baby itch. And my the time I have another I'll be around 38. My hubby says we really can't afford more than three, but I can't get over wanting more than that. 😫

I struggled with this for the last 2 years. I have a 9, 5, 4 and 3 year old and no.4 was supposed to be my last- 3 babies in 25 months wasn't my smartest move as it felt like one long pregnancy rather than 3 separate ones. we were not trying, not preventing for about 18 months but hubby decided no more and had a vasectomy. I'm done having babies because I have to be, not because I want to be- even though I know deep down its for the best. Doesn't make it any easier though. I've got a friend who had her 11th a year ago and has been done for a while but her hubby keeps wanting more which children resulted in her struggling to bond with her youngest. I think you need to do what's best for the family as a whole and not always just what one of you wants otherwise it causes problems. I've been made a godmother and an auntie in the last year which has helped me come to terms with not having any more of my own :-)

Not sure what your babies ‘gender’ has to do with anything... but to answer your question “how many more nights will I have to do this for”, simply the answer is for how ever long you continue to be able to have babies... plus+ keep having babies, in the next 5 years your body is going to naturally want to rest and slow down more so these ‘nights’ you speak of will only continue to get harder and harder

I’m 33 and pregnant with my 5th and after this I’m done. I’ve finally reached that point where I know I’m done and I’m happy with having 5 kids and so is my husband. He also has 2 kids from a previous relationship

This is a great question.. I wonder this too! I have three kids.. 7,4, and 1... man oh man do they drive me crazy but omg I am in love with them and even though I front that I'm done since my body is stretched..... I secretly want another one 😬 guess it's time to work out and work on my core muscles lol

It's the fear of letting go. It's also that young stage where they love you all day and want your cuddles. My daughter is five and I appreciate that because I can joke and talk with her and my son is one and isn't there yet. This last baby is going to be it. I want to go after my dream I'd be a hairdresser and I need to go to school.

I am a one and done person

My little guy will be a year old on Valentine's Day. We had a rough start. We have no family here. Barely any friends. Nobody to help. My baby had severe silent reflux. I was alone, tired, and miserable for months.

All of the things we had to do because of his reflux are things that continue now. He still sleeps in our bed (he would only sleep STRAIGHT up and down, so I slept sitting up). He nurses to sleep for all naps and at night. He is a super happy, healthy baby now. But I had 6 months of really, really hard times.

I did not get the adorable, snuggly newborn. I got the adorable, uncomfortable, fussy, nonstop nursing, medication needing newborn.

I don't want to do that again. And that's how I know I'm done. 😕
