help!!

My boyfriend found out today that he has herpes. He called me tonight after I got off work and was sounding bitter finally after me n him arguing then making up he asked if I wanna know why he's acting bitter. I tell him of course so he tells me...he found out that he has herpes. He suspects he got it from his ex that he was with back in may. He's only been with 6 people total. He doesn't expect me to risk my health for him. Like I have had STIs but they've been currrable unlike herpes... he n I are really close and this relationship is unlike any of my past. We are upfront about things, we don't hide shit (obviously) and we have trust and communication and loyalty. He really is my world and even though he and I haven't been together that long (3 months) we talk about settling down. I'm really serious about him but idk how to handle what he told me....
