Car Seat Safety (NC)
So I've been freaking out. I don't allow my 5 year old to ride a bus and every day for the past few weeks just about, I've been noticing 5/6 year Olds just jumping into mom and dad's cars, no buckles, no car seat, no booster, etc. One kid just jumped right up in the front of the car and the mom let him! One little girl, smaller than my 5 year old but same class, just bounces around the back seat.
Now as a parent, I'm not one to complain about others and judge based on what they do with their kids, but they're supposed to be in some type of seat at that age!!! There are idiots on the roads these days! My husband is a volunteer for the fire department here and that is not a call I want him getting!
So I am asking after talking to a few other people. What are my options in this? I mentioned it to my son's teacher and she did not know. She said she would speak to the principal but said nothing else this morning. What steps can I take to ensure these children are getting home safely and their parents can be more aware and knowledgeable on car seat safety? (And I am far from a nazi when it comes to car seat safety but these poor children) Is there an anonymous tip line I can call in to? Do I need to speak to a state trooper? How would you react in this situation? I just don't want anyone mad at me because I turned them in but they need to know their kids are not safe.
