Christmas presents?!?

My husband and I got married early this year and we just had a baby! I have no siblings but he has two sisters and one of them has a son and just had another baby! Is it rude of me to not want to buy a desperate gift for her and her husband and then for her two kids as well? What rules do you say you should use when buying presents for family?

The rule in MY family is, immediate family and children .. But once your brother/sister has children  its for the Children  only.  My SIL is pregnant.... so her and her husband  dont get gifts,  I bought for the future babies. Honestly  xmas is about children

When it came to gifts for the adults we use to draw names at Thanksgiving (same relatives came to Christmas) so we were only obligated to buy one gift and then the parents would buy for their kids and any grandkids. Now, for the adults , we all bring one gift and play rob your neighbor or dirty Santa, whichever you like to call it. It makes it easier. You only get to play if you bring a gift to add to the game. And then of course anyone can buy for the little kids if they want to but it's not a big deal if you don't.

My siblings and I buy for nieces and nephew only now...next year we are going to draw names and each only buy for 2 kids. I'm one of 5 so that plus their spouses and I have 9nieces and nephews which grows every year. So if we each just buy for two we can do really nice gifts vs small cheap gifts

My husband and I have always just bought one gift. He has a brother who's married. They just get one gift. Same goes with my family. 😊

This year, my husband and I bought group gifts because we don't have a whole lot of extra money. So my sister and her husband get a gift to share between them (something they both like) then I got their 4 boys a board game to share.all the couples get a gift to share they'd both like, if they have a kid the kid gets a gift, if they have more than one they share a gift.

My family......immediate family buy for adults. If they have children buy for them until 16/18 years old then stop & back to adults

Growing up the adults only bought presents for the kids and grandparents. Aunts and uncles didn't exchange any gifts besides maybe a poinsetta. The parents/other adults were given gifts by my grandparents, not each other

I have so much family.... My husband doesn't. We try to cover all the little kids, our moms, and that's about it. We mostly just send cards to the adults when money is tight.

I don't think it's rude at all.. I mean it's better than showing up empty handed (even tho Christmas shouldn't be revolved around gifts lol)..
