Well, the time has come to take the next step! We've been toying with the idea of marriage for the last year, and are finally ready to commit. He asked me to pick out a ring, but I had always assumed that he would pick it and surprise me with a proposal. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the gesture of him wanting to give me exactly what I want! He isn't always the best at finding things that are my style, especially when it comes to jewlery, so I am happy that he's asked me to pick it out. But I find the idea of choosing my own ring unromantic and I've always dreamed of that surprise in a creative proposal. How did you ladies do this? Did you just let him pick? Forgo the surprise? Or is there some sort of compromise here that I'm not seeing? We're not in a huge rush, but once I pick out the ring, I feel like I'm just going to be waiting for it, and I don't want to feel like that!
