HCG/ Blood drawn why?

I see so many post about getting blood drawn and HCG levels and doing it every couple of days; kind of freaks me out because I went to my doctor and the only blood work they did was a pregnancy test. Next appointment apparently is for paperwork around 7-8WKs and they said nothing important really happens or starts until around 12WKs is most important..... first baby also I'm currently at 4wks +2

I'm had mine drawn three times to make sure it doubled every 48 hours. We conceived through IVF.

I had my blood drawn because I've lost 3 babes and I'm on progesterone supplements. I almost wish I didn't have to because it seems to cause more anxiety than needed. With my first pregnancy we didn't draw hcg at all (I lost them at 18w to ttts so the blood draw would not have helped at all)

I'm 4w and 4d and also getting blood drawn every 2 days for the next week. When you are pregnant your hcg levels double every 2 days. When you go to the doctor as early as we are in our pregnancies they are just trying to make sure our hormones are rising like they should.

I personally need my hcg drawn as soon as I get a bfp because my very first pregnancy was ectopic. While my 2nd was viable and I gave birth, I still have a 1/10 chance of having another one. So they need to make sure my hcg is doubling and to see when my hcg is high enough to get the sac on ultrasound in my uterus bc if it isn't then I need treatment right away.

My first four I never did a blood draw for anything just a urine test and went from there with this one new doctors off 
Ice they did blood work to confirm I'm pregnant that's it

I think it just depends on your doc! Mine is testing my hcg and won't do an ultrasound until the levels go up to 6000. Hopefully Monday! Yesterday they were 4989 and that was my first hcg. This is also my first pregnancy

I won't have any testing until december 28th and I'll be over 8 weeks at that point.

Majority of losses happen by 12 weeks. If you miss your period you're already in the 50% of people who made it that far. Some drs may not want to cause you stress or do any unnecessary testing as whatever happens will mostly happen by 12w

I didn't get my blood drawn until I was at 8 weeks and not sure when the next blood draw will be... I'm at 14 weeks currently. If they have no reason to suspect something's wrong they won't take extra blood from you. Just try to relax and enjoy this time 😁
