When does Second Trimester ACTUALLY start?

I'm 13 weeks 4 days and I'm not sure if I'm in my second trimester yet. My apps are still saying 1st trimester!! pregnancy is so confusing 😩

If you do the math, it seems that 40 weeks divided by 3 trimesters would make each trimester 13.3 weeks 😊 
I always thought I would measure my pregnancy by months, but it seems so much more clear to measure by weeks. 40 weeks does not equal an even 9 months!

I think it depends on what guidelines various OB MDs use...like a few may say 12 weeks. I'm getting my 1st Trimester combined screening at 13&2. Some say 13 weeks is 2nd tri, most say 14 weeks. At least that's the impression I've got so far?...this is my 1st pregnancy. Currently 12 weeks due 6/17/17 or 6/18/17 (depending on if you are going off my LPM (17th) or off my 1st ultrasound measurements (18th...Fathers Day 😁 YAY!!!!).
