anyone gone into labor without dilation of effacement?

I'm getting really discouraged. 40 weeks tomorrow, no dilation or effacement. Please tell me someone has gone into labor without dilation or effacement.. I'm getting really upset.

I went into labor with no effacement and barely a finger tip dialated! I had tried everything, was beyond discouraged, and already told my husband when to take off work bc I was sure I was going to be induced. Then woke up one night at 2:50am with full blown contractions. By the time I got to the hospital at 7am I was 100% effaced and 4cm dialated!

Went to the hospital with my son around 7 pm having minor contractions. They sent me home after observing me for a couple hours. No dilation, no effacement. Went home around midnight and woke up at 3:30am having super painful contractions. Went back to the hospital and I was 3 cm. First baby, and I had him at 3:16pm

My doctor wanted to induce me with my first bec I had no sign of dilation or effacement in the slightest. They booked me in and told me that they would have to give me some pills every 4 hours for the next 24 hours to help soften my cervix and if that helped then they would give me the pitocin the following day. Two hours after the first pill my water broke on its own. 25min after that I was fully dilated and ready to go, no pitocin needed!
