working with children..with children at home?

Ever since I was younger Ive always wanted to work with children. Now that I have one of my own on the way, which I am super excited for, I'm also afraid that I'll never be able to pursue that dream. I have some questions if anyone would be offering to help.

1. How would I go about being a social worker, like a therapist that goes to the family home? I had one when my family was going through rough times, and she helped me so much.

2. Are any of you ladies going to college & working at the same time, with a baby at home? Nobody in my family has gone to college or any schooling really. We've always been extremely low income, so I'm kind of starting from scratch with money.

3. Any other ideas on how to get a start on working with children? I'm so lost and I'm afraid if I don't do something now I never will

Part 2: yourself since you'll be a student, mother, and you'll be working. And don't let anyone tell you you can't do it! Since you have a child and mentioned you're low income, apply for FAFSA and PHEEA and you should be able to get finanacial aid to put towards your schooling. That money is free, you don't have to pay it back! Just like scholarships- apply, apply, apply for those! As many as you find and qualify for! And you can look into student loan options for whatever tuition is left that you still need help with. You can also look into child care state assistance to help that financial burden if you're going to need child care. Good luck and you can do this!!

I work with children currently, I went to school for early childhood education (ECE) & child development. I was a preschool teacher for awhile but sadly the school closed, so I'm back to nannying which is what I did throughout college. I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so I'll be working with children with one at home (well with me- I'm bringing her to work). And in July I'll be going back to school full time and still working and my baby will be 6 months by then. If you want to get into social work, like become a social worker or something or the sort you'll need at least a bachelor's degree most likely. I'd start at a community college. They are so much more affordable that 4 year institutions, and then you can transfer to another school to finish. Some community colleges are even offering bachelor's degrees now! (But sadly not many.) Most early childhood education majors would put you in the right path towards social work, but you'd need to explore the majors of the schools you're looking at to find the  way fit to your goal career. I'd say take as many online classes as you can, but I only suggest taking them for classes you're confident in. I'm taking all my general math/english/etc classes online, but I'm going back to school for software engineering so I wouldn't take any computer science or coding classes online since it's new to me. I'd want to be present. ECE majors are a lot of work- as in there's often a lot of work to do. I had constant essays, projects, observation hours to do, so you're very busy, but luckily the content itself isn't really too hard. Go to school part time if you need to, don't worry about taking longer to finish than others! Even if all you can handle one semester is two classes, then take those two classes and do your best. Try not to overload

I'm planning on going back to school for earlier childhood education... I'm going to do most of my classes online after I have my baby because right now I can't focus with being pregnant and having a 3 year old ... I'm planning on opening up a daycare since it's already extremely expensive with one I know it's going to be expensive with 2 ... so I would try to look up schools and see if for your major if there are classes you can start doing now online to get them out the way ... BTW I also have a full time job too so it's a lot to juggle but you can do it
