No maternity leave?! WTF?

I just found out that my firm does not offer maternity leave. I can only take vacation/sick time. That is just complete nonsense. Is anyone else in the same boat?

We don't get paid maternity leave at my job but my the time I deliver I'd have accrued enough sick and vaca time to take 10-11 weeks paid and I'll take 1-2 weeks unpaid to take a whole 12 weeks. The US is so far behind on maternity leave. I'm lucky I'm getting paid for most of mine but I've never called in sick and the men here get the same sick as me and just taking of here and there..

Most places in USA don't, in Cananda they have May leave for 12months!! Anyway you can try to file the FMLA, family medical leave act which will allot up to 12weeks of "unpaid" leave.

Yeah a lot of places don't!  Or if they do there are stimulations-like you have to have been working there for at least a year, working full time, or working at least a certain amount of hours etc..I think all places should be required to offer maternity leave-but a lot of places find loop holes to get out of it or like I said there are stipulations, requirements you need to meet to be allowed for it.
