I need some advice😞

I told my best friend I like him. He didn't tell me "I like you" or "I don't like you like that." He didn't say anything! I feel half way broken hearted. So idk if I should cry or not. We just kept talking as if I never said a word about it. I don't expect him to like me (bc that prob won't happen..) but I do wish for an answer or something! He's a shy guy.  Maybe he is afraid to tell me an answer. Idk
