Is it okay to throw your own baby shower?

I have a a few girlfriends but none close enough that I would expect to spend time and money to throw me a shower.  DH and I are planning to throw a a coed shower with our close friends and family.  Many knew we have been trying for a long long time (7 years), so I think it's appropriate to celebrate the both of us!  I was thinking of asking my sister in law (DH sister) to "host" for us and we'll do the majority of the planning.  I'm pretty comfortable around her and I think that would be the best way to go about it without looking like we're hosting it ourselves. Thoughts? 🙂
