Help with sore nipples from breastfeeding

Hi mommies I need some help! My little man was born three days ago and I breastfeed him but my nipples are extremely sore, red and even bloody. It hurts so much to nurse him and even when my clothes touch my nipples they burn and sting so much. I love the quality time I get to spend with him while breastfeeding so I don't want to have to stop. Is this normal to happen in the beginning? I've heard it happens because the baby doesn't latch on properly, I'm a FTM so if you have any tips or remedies I'd truly appreciate it 💕
