Patch- How soon am I protected really?

so I recently started the patch 4 days ago. According to the instructions (in the box) I have to wait a full week until I'm protected but Planned Parenthood says if I start within 5 days I'm fully protected... Does anyone know which one is correct? 🤔

Both are correct.

When you start any birth control on your period you are protected straight away.

Any other time you need to wait 7-14 days depending on which method you are using, and which pill.
