is it a big deal if my bf doesn't hold open doors for me...?

he doesn't ever hold open doors for me?? instead of holding open the door, he'll open it for himself & just let it shut behind him (...letting it shut on me)

is this something I should mention? 😕 I feel like it's almost embarrassing when other people see him just shut the door on me

You should mention it since it obviously bothers you. That's rude in general, not only because he's your boyfriend and he's "supposed" to hold doors for you. My boyfriend always does, but I reciprocate. I always hold the door for him as well, it's not just one way. Maybe he was never taught proper manners? (Not to sound rude).

It shows you that he's self centered. Has no respect for you. Clearly is not a gentleman and has no manners. Either you need to talk to him or find a better guy. You deserve better. A man that caters to you. Respects you. Loves you. Can compromise. Cares about you and your well being and adores you if his behavior doesn't improve find someone else.

I think it really just depends on how youre raised. Maybe he wasn't taught to do that. I don't think it's a huge deal, nothing to break up over. But if you don't wanna mention it maybe get in front of him and open the door for him and he will reciprocate the action.

Sometimes I don't give my boyfriend a chance to open doors for me and he'll get upset! I'm not used to it and it's natural, now I'm getting used to him opening my doors and walking on the right side of the sidewalk. It means so much to me and I think it's like a respect thing.

In my opinion its not that big of a deal yes its common courtesy but hes not obligated to hold the door for you why not just open the door for yourself i never expect anyone friend family or stranger to hold doors for me and there are times im sure i dont hold doors for others but i try
