baby measuring 4 days behind?

I had my first US yesterday and was thrilled to see the hb at around 160. But I'm worried that I should have been 7w6d and the doctor measures me at 7w2d, so four days behind. She didn't seem concerned, but I googled (I know I shouldn't have) and it seems like there are bad outcomes when the baby measures behind? Am I worrying for no reason?

Worrying for nothing. Don't listen to Dr. Google. My doc said anything within 5 days is considered normal. Especially considering you may have ovulated later than normal or implanted later than normal. I've seen women on here thinking they are weeks ahead of where they actually are by estimating due date from LMP. Unless you know exactly when you ovulated, it's the best way to guess, but always just adjust your due date from the measurements you get on the US.

My doc is always insisting I'm measuring two days behind because he uses my LMP (not that two days matters at all) and every time I tell him, no, I ovulated on CD 16 so I'm actually measuring perfectly. And he's like, "how do you know?" And I'm like, "because I've been tracking ovulation for two years ever since you told me to and I've always been right." And then he comes up with some excuse like "well it's less confusing just using LMP" or "it's a pain to change in the computer" or whatever. He says my due date is June 30th, I tell him I'm going to keep saying July 2nd. He says I can say whatever I want to say.

So not only may your due date be off because using LMP is not always accurate, doctors are stubborn. Not that you asked for that tidbit, but there it is anyway.

Answer

You never know exactly when you ovulated or when egg was fertilized etc... so it's possible that you are off on your date. Since it's only a few days I'm sure it's fine! Doctor would tell you if it was a concern.
