promise rings for guys???

Question

So I've been thinking for Christmas I want to get my boyfriend a promise ring as we've been together for 3 years, we have 3 pets together, I'm 20 and he's 21. He says he wants to get married and have a family but he's not ready right now ( and neither am I) ... I don't want to freak him out by giving him a promise ring but I really want him to know how much I love him , but I don't want him to be scared that it means I'm waiting for an engagement ring or something... also I don't even know if girls give guys promise rings... what do you guys think? I could really use some input!💕

Promise rings feel like a teenage thing to do...I don't think adults should actually give them, it's kinda silly.
I also don't know that a guy would wear a promise ring. They typically just wear a band once married. And yes, it might freak him out if you haven't already discussed it

I think at that age promise rings are just weird in general. It's like a fake engagement ring..if you are committed and have talked about marriage there really is no need for a promise ring. I feel like thats a thing high schoolers do...

It's not "weird" if it's something you have spoken about and want to do then you should. 
Maybe an engraved watch or something along those lines would be better for a male as a surprise gift though?

Unless he has specifically mentioned wanting one, I would not....could make him feel weird, a little juvenile, etc....

Nope but I like the watch idea mentioned above. If you have a promise ring from him then I'd say fine but don't streak your claim on him.  If he is a good guy he prob wouldn't need one

Maybe just a nice ring for his finger, maybe right hand. Don't call it a promise ring either...too feminine
