Does biotin actually aid in hair growth?

Over summer I got 10 inches cut off of my hair because it was really unhealthy. I loved my short hair, but it grew out quickly and is now at a very awkward shoulder length. I don't want to get it trimmed because I know it will just reach this length again, so I've decided to grown it out.  Does biotin actually aid in growing your hair out quicker?

YES! And your nails too! But you will break out unless you drink LOTS of water. I've never had problems with breakouts but I took biotin and I broke out sooo bad. I don't take it anymore but it DOES grow your hair and nails (well it did me anyway)

It does, but it also can cause breakouts so take at your own risk!

My Asian friend was saying the other day her hair dresser had her use men's generic brand Rogaine (not womens and not brand name) and she's been using it for a few months already her hair is growing super fast and thick.
