are infant care classes worth the money?

Hospitals in my area charge about $65-80 for the infant care classes. Are they worth it? Did you find them useful??

I didn't take them. My hospital actually had little videos to watch while you were recovering on basic care things. Which was actually pretty helpful on things like a baby bath since we never did it before. So if they have something like that I would say paying for it isn't worth it but if they don't I probably would

I wouldn't pay for a care class but I would pay for infant cpr. My hospital offered both. I know couples that went to hospitals they weren't delivering at to take advantage of free classes. Our Babies R Us store also holds classes throughout the year on different topics. I attended a breastfeeding class there.

I would say it depends on if you have experience with babies and/or if someone would be around to help you.
I read the book what to expect the first year while I was pregnant (the first part is mostly about baby care and breastfeeding) and we stayed at my parent's for the first few weeks so my mom taught us everything (she used to be a nurse so double points 😎).
I would say bathing and breastfeeding were the trickiest parts. The rest are simple enough to learn.

I would also say it depends on your personal style. Some people like to learn as they go or do trial and error. I, personally, get flustered when I feel I'm not prepared (I'm the type of person who reads the manuals and assembly instructions 🤓). If I didn't have my mom, I would've went to classes even if I had to pay.

Our hospital we had to pay $90. As a FTM and a person that likes learning in classroom settings it made me feel more confident and prepared Lol! I don't know if you can ever really be prepared until you start doing it. I ended watching a lot of YouTube videos, too. But I'm glad my husband and I took them. It gave us some things to think about and it was fun learning about baby with my husband. Also nice hearing from other parents to be in the same boat as me. Do you gotta take them? No. I'm glad I did though.

I took a free one with Kaiser and I'd say it's more worth it if Dad goes. It will mostly come natural for you compared to dad. Look for something on YouTube as well before spending money if that cost will break the bank! 😊

I took them as they were offered for free. If I had to pay, I probably wouldn't have gone because everything they told us, I knew/researched on my own. Besides most of the stuff I already forgot about lol

We ended up not taking the formal classes because 1) i was in hospital during class i scheduled 😞 2) i delivered before any more classes were offered.

One of our son's amazing nicu nurses (who is an instructor for the classes anyway) gave us private instruction on bathing, diaper changing, nail clipping, diaper rash, feeding, burping etc. it was majorly helpful. We also had to watch cpr training videos.

Our hospital also had videos on demand for various things.
