Is it taboo for a married couple to use condoms?

I had a few of my husbands friends make fun of us back before we were trying to have a baby because I didn't use birth control and we used condoms. I've had a few people act like that was gross which baffled me. One even said it looks sketchy on my part, like I'm sleeping around and don't want to risk spreading an STD to my husband because I slept around so much on him. I know they're just being assholes and I don't really care what they think it's my marriage and my sex life I'll do what I want but I was curious on other people's opinion. Is it really that odd for a married couple to still use condoms?
