Is it bad for the baby to sleep on your back belly up?

If you're more than about 20w, sleeping on your back can cause the weight of your uterus to press on a major vein that feeds baby. Best to prop one hip up with a pillow

My baby's heart actually stopped beating during an ultrasound while laying on my back. She was fine once I sat up but I definitely wouldn't suggest it.

It's suggested that you do not lay flat on your back. You either can set a pillow under you to wedge yourself a little to one side or recline yourself up a little. Now if you are sleeping and you wake up flat on your back you don't have to stress just roll or readjust your pillows.

My doctor doesn't care if I do as long as I'm not having any side effects from doing it. When I lay on my back at 26 weeks, sometimes I have shortness of breath, urgency to pee, lightheadedness, and numbness of my hands. But I still do it from time to time until it gets uncomfortable. They say it's really best to lay on your left side, but that makes me dizzy so I Lay on my right lol.
