"Alternative" look
So, I myself have tattoos and piercings. Recently I've been told by people that I should take them out and "be an adult". As well as I have been told that dying my hair crazy colors is also not "mother like." I enjoy doing my own hair, crazy colors and all. I won't take out my piercings because I like them and that does not determine who I am as a person or as a mother. My tattoos are girly and really pretty and in no way inappropriate. My appearance does not define who I am as a mother or as a person. I feel like since I look the way I do I'm just looked at as a horrible mother and people probably assume I do drugs and whatever. Truth of the matter is I find my appearance to be a form of self expression and art as well as I don't do drugs, I don't drink and I am raising my son pretty much on my own. I want to know everyone's opinions on this. Do you look at mothers differently who have an alternative look or something unique? Do you think someone's appearance determines how they are as a mother? Do you think piercings tattoos and hair colors determine ones ability to be a mom?
