Crib bumpers safe?

What's your opinion on crib bumpers being safe/unsafe? Do you believe the America Academy of Pediatrics study that they increase the rate of SIDS?

You can't have an opinion on whether something is safe or unsafe. Its either safe or it's not. Crib bumpers (unless mesh) are not. Its a fact. Not an opinion.

Yes I believe them. Why take the chance to find out if it's true or not? I'd rather my baby's safely over a decoration.

I'm going to go with the professionals, and what my ob and baby bound nurse has told me. Nothing in crib but a mattress and tight fitted sheet. Why take the risk of increasing SIDS? I don't understand why people question medical experts opinion so much lol.

I mean, when I was growing up, we had bumpers, drop down cribs and our car seats consisted of a big plastic bar across our laps. I didn't used them because they didn't come with my bed set and I wasn't going to pay $40 for them.

No they're not safe. They're a suffocation hazard. Even the mesh ones are a strangulation hazard.

I believe the research and facts. I see comments all the time on this app of people saying they did things that are known to increase the risk of SIDS and their baby is fine as if that disproves the research...all it really proves is that some people don't understand risk.

I like bumpers bc my child's legs and arms don't get stuck inbetween the bars while they're sleeping. 
I'll be using them again once my newborn is older and can move around.

I used crib bumpers as well as pillows and blankets. Mine have survived.
