Advice for those who are anxious for an ultra sound
I just wanted to share my experience, as I know a lot of us our anxious and hate that we have to wait so long for an ultra sound (I wasnt scheduled to have one until 12 weeks!). I was a wreck! I am exactly 7 weeks now, but last week at 6 weeks and 3 days, I couldn't take it anymore. I called my dr and asked to see him, saying I had some questions. I walked in there and demanded an ultrasound. Both him and the nurses pushed back and really gave me a hard time saying "well, we won't be able to see the baby's heart beat anyway..So it's a waste". I told them I don't care, I want to try. And finally they relented. And guess what?! We saw the baby's heart beat! Strong and healthy. Since then, it has been like a 1000 lb weight has been lifted off of me. I know I'm not in the clear yet, but it makes the waiting period between now and the 10 week ultrasound bearable.
So my advice to anyone who is in my shoes is to be your own advocate, and if you want more tests or ultra sounds, it's your right to ask. Especially if the anxiety you're experiencing is putting baby at risk. The worst thing that could happen is that they say no, but push back and demand that your concerns are heard and taken seriously.
