has anyone eloped?

I wanted to do something small but even then I would still have to invite a lot of people. I want to be married and him to be my husband. I would feel bad that my dad wouldn't be there so idk. Any advice?

We did a surprise wedding. Invited our family over for a poolside BBQ over Labor Day weekend. Had a few close friends. We didn't tell anyone we were doing it. We told them we were going to announce our baby's gender, we got a cake that was blue in the middle. Right before we cut the cake we asked everyone to wait a little longer and watch us get married. It was amazing. At the end of the ceremony we told everyone we were having a boy. They were all sooooo happy and crying and recording on their phones. The hardest part was we had to apply for a marriage license in a different county so it wasn't reported in the local news paper. Overall it cost $300 and everyone said it was the best wedding they had ever been to!

My husband and I eloped back in June! We had a private ceremony on the beach, a friend married us and we had 2 friends as witnesses. We plan on having a big party to celebrate with both of our families someday but the ceremony was just about us and it was perfect. People tell me all the time they wish they had eloped instead of have a big wedding. Go for it! 😊

I have eloped before. Your wedding is about you two. If your can't have your wedding the way you dream, nothing wrong with just doing something the two of you. It will still be special because that's the day you're uniting in marriage with your best friend and lover. It's absolutely not about the guests.

My fiancé and I are getting married Monday. :) I think we are gonna have a total of 3-4 people there lol, and his family can't make it as they live several states over. We just wanna be married so it's going down, no wedding or anything. Basically a courthouse wedding, we aren't even wearing anything special just some formal clothes! Marriage is about you two, no one else, and it's definitely not about material things. I say go for it!

Yep my husband asked me one Saturday how I would feel if we got married without a ring and of course I said i didn't care so we went to the court house that following Monday. Our one year anniversary is on Wednesday. I wouldn't have had our "wedding" any other way. I've never been one to want a huge wedding so it was perfect.

I had the traditional wedding and honestly I wish we had eloped. It would save us so much money and frustration. Everyone has an opinion about what your wedding should be. Do what will make you happy. If you do elope I would still recommend getting a dress that was my favorite part.
