I'm considered "obese"?

I'm 5'10" and 220 pounds. I was so surprised to find out that I'm obese per my . I knew I was overweight.... but I didn't know it was that bad 😞 do y'all think I look terrible?

You're considered "obese" by those stupide BMI charts which any good doctor doesn't actually go by, because they're grossly inaccurate. Any doctor or dietician worth their paycheck will tell you they're garbage.

Serena Williams is "obese" as well.

You look great and you don't need to justify your health to anyone. If you are basing this on BMI that has been proven to be grossly innacurate.

Unless your doctor is concerned, you're fine.

Also, look up (if you have an Instagram) @honormycurves she is amazing and talks about being tall and how she is expected to be rail thin solely because she's tall and her journey of embracing what healthy is for Her is incredible. She's Tall, takes up space, practices yoga, eats healthy and works hard to love herself. Her health is on Her terms and not defined by BMI and other discredited measures of "health." Also her fashion and yoga love is life 🙏

Ignore BMI charts. I'm 5'2" and weigh 155, and the charts say I'm obese.  A doc once told me that according to BMI charts I need to lose 40-50 pounds. I wear a size 4. I asked him to show me where I should take that 40-50 lbs from. Of course he couldn't. If I lost that, I'd be labeled anorexic (and would look it).
Those charts don't account for muscle mass or broad builds.

While I don't think you look bad I am a firm believer everyone should try and be as healthy as they can be. Yeah, slim chance people have medical issues but that still doesn't stop some from being healthy again.

You look great! My brother is around 6'2" and weighs 165 and they said he was overweight. He literally has no fat at all. Don't trust those charts. Everyone carries weight differently and those charts aren't taking muscle mass into account.
