I tell everyone to wash their clothes before wearing, that goes for adults too. I worked in retail management for 10+ years, and shipments come from all over the world, I've seen dead spiders and all kinds of weird bugs in shipment boxes, and those bugs are laying all over the clothes. So yes, always wash clothes before wearing no matter the packaging.

Yes! I'm a first time, teen mom & even I recognize the importance of this! haha. Make sure you use a gentle, baby detergent and try to be consistent with one brand throughout baby's first year or so.

Clothes are often sprayed with chemicals so they don't wrinkle while shipping. Plus, like others were saying, things fall on the floor, are touched a lot, etc. I'm washing all my gal's clothes and blankets before she arrives.

I have heard it's because the clothes are shipped in boxes that are sprayed with pesticides.. that thought makes me wash everything before letting it touching my newborn.

I do only because with my first I didn't because I really didn't know but she broke out in a rash all over i had to keep her in a diaper after I cleaned her and then wash it all in baby wash
