Neither. It doesn't feel any different than before we were married. The hardest point in our relationship was when we first moved in together. We fought a lot for a few months. Since then we're pretty much smooth sailing and rarely argue.

I don't believe in a "honeymoon phase".
It's so sad to me that during my husband and my first year of marriage, whenever we were sweet to each other people would say "aw that's cute, you're still in the honeymoon phase".
I vowed to love and cherish my husband every day, not just our first year of marriage. And 3 years of lovey dovey goodness, nobody can say we're still in that phase.

Sorry, just something I'm very passionate about.

I also don't think it's the hardest year. Hardships are going to come about probably often. I'm not afraid to admit things got difficult while learning new things about my hubby during year 1, but the joy and the frustration balance each other out.
If you're opening to learning, communicating, and choosing your battles wisely, marriage is bound to be such a fulfilling and rewarding decision.

I think it depends on a lot of things. Were they living together long before marriage?  Sex? Finances? Those are the things that can make the first year the hardest if they're dealing with all that change at once. 
We were living together and had combined finances there was nothing different except our titles and it was awesome 😊

Easy least lots of fun and sex. Wait till year 14 with 2 kids and you'll wish you could have year 1 back. Not that I regret or would change it, it's just harder now than when we were young and had more money to have fun, and less responsibilities.

It is what you make it! Honestly the hardest year was the first year we moved in together lol getting use to each other's ways and learning to work together can be tough. Been together 4 years married 6 months and we are the same to each other as we were before we even got engaged. Love my sexy man! Like I said it is what you make it there is no stage 😊

I've been told it's the hardest, mainly if you've never lived together before but I feel like because you've never lived together before, it will be the honeymoon phase because it's new territory for the both of you.

Both. Lol Honestly, though, I think it depends on whether you lived together before marriage  and how long you have been together.

I think it depends on a lot of things. It depends on expectations you have before marriage, personalities, how well you know each other before hand, if you are able to take off those rose colored glasses before hand and see them for who they really are, first marriage or second, etc. My second marriage was a lot harder than my first for that first year... simply because trying to navigate ex spouses, kids, old in laws, new in laws and their relationship with exes. If we had married each other the first go around it would have been SO easy though. He's much easier to live with than my  first husband was.
