Acceptable punishment?

When I was a kid I stood in the corner when I misbehaved, I was told to think about what I did and when I had calmed down or was sorry I could come out.. well I just typed in to Google "standing in corner" and apparently it's cruel  and humuliating punishment

It's not a cruel and humiliating punishment. It's totally fine. I bet whoever wrote that is one of theirs anti spamming fanatics, or those who believe in just 'talking' and 'reasoning' with kids to discipline them. Nonsense 😴

If you make them face the wall and stay there for a long time, yes that's kind of mean. But just for a little won't hurt. I found this before I was even pregnant and I think I'll use this method!
The end is just funny.. I don't believe spanking is a good method at all 😶

I'm 20 years old now. When I was a kid, we got spanked with whatever was around and we had to stand in the corner. The more we misbehaved the longer we had to stand in the corner. When we got older we just got yelled at and grounded from everything. I believe 100% in discipline but I do think some people tend to take it too far while others don't seem to take it far enough.

A lot of things I read say time out should be 1 min per age & afterwards discussing with the child what they did & making sure they understand why they were punished/why what they did was wrong. As long as the kid isn't standing in the corner for a long time it's fine.
