Cord Clamping? To or Not To...

Did any of you choose to delay clamping & cutting the cord?

My OB delays cord clamping and said all the docs at this hospital do the same. 4 years ago when my son was born I asked for delayed cord clamping and I am pretty sure this is why he didn't have jaundice, which my daughter had when she was born (and we didn't do delayed cord clamping with her). Research studies have shown it is very beneficial for the baby.

I wait until it stops pulsing. There is just no need to cut it any sooner. Your baby, your body, your decision!

It's part of my birth plan to not clamp and cut until it's done pulsating.

Yes I am. My doctor automatically does it though. I asked her to be sure and she said she always waits 30 seconds - 2 minutes. I asked her to wait more towards the 2 min. mark.
