can't gain weight?

Any momma who are EBF having trouble with gaining weight?

Answer

I do. I was below my prepregnancy weight by 2weeks. Around 4months I assumed something was wrong bc I was 15lbs under my prepregnancy weight (bmi was 16.5 at this point). I went to my dr & got a full blood panel work up, everything is normal. Basically he explained some women just burn a lot of calories producing milk & have higher density milk. Around 6m pp I stopped losing weight. I'm 10m pp next week, and I'm just maintaining. Supposedly when I stop EBF I should gain some back easily. Makes sure you're eating well, and talk to your dr if you're worried.

Answer

When efb you need to be eating an extra 500 calories per day. That's just to maintain your weight. Therefore if you're trying to gain too the you really need to up your calorie intake. Breastfeeding is hard work on your body and you burn a lot. Eat lots of protein.
