The questions "What kind of person do I want to be?" and "How should I live my life?" are daunting and vast. You have to answer them if you want to live the best self aware life possible. Here's a simple trick to help:
Imagine that you are disembodied and you are seeing your own funeral. Many people are there, genuinely morning your death. You have already lived a full life, and they are talking about how they remembered you as a person. What do you want to hear?
Example:

"She was kind to everyone."

"She never gave up."

"She was so creative. She inspired me."

"She had great inner strength."

"If she started something, she gave her all to it."

"She was a loyal friend."

"She was there when I needed her."

"She could fix any problem."

"She was a good leader, but knew when to step back and show reverence to someone who deserved it."

"She had a deep sense of wonder."

"She had a great spirit."

"She was wise."

"She had a healing presence. If you were sick or hurt or hopeless, she gave you hope and strength."

"She was a peacemaker. She could bring any group together."

"She was awake fully."

"She could be logical and sensitive in equal measure."

"She might seem a little cold at first, but if she found you worthy, she would love you to the death."

"She was joyful and saw the beauty in life."

"She was at home anywhere."

"She was always seeing something we missed."

"She could make something out of nothing."

"She was skeptical and rebellious in the right ways."

"She couldn't stand by when she saw an injustice. She took action."

"She had no fear at all, or maybe she just didn't let it stop her."

"She cared about what her conscience told her, not people's opinions."

"She was all about being truthful. She had a way of telling hard truths compassionately."

"She was always graceful and elegant."

That tells you a lot about what you want to be, right? Now reflect on how you match up to that ideal and take action.

Merry Christmas!
