Bloody Sex?

How possible is it to get pregnant when you have sex while on your period? My boyfriend and I rarely use protection, no need to give me the birth control speech. I know all the risks, except for this unknown area. He normally pulls out, although this time he didn't. I'm not afraid to get pregnant, I love this man very much, but I would just like to know what I should look out for.
