Cervical check start contractions?

Well..I thought I was just having the strep b test but he checked cervix too. Has anyone ever started contractions after a cervix check? My baby is very low in my pelvis and I started feeling a few sharp period cramp jabs and I may or may not be having Braxton hicks contractions (I'm a FTM I've no idea..) although I know I've had them before because it was distinct. I've apparently been having a lot and not noticed because I just thought it was the baby bawling up. But these period cramps is what's bothering me.
