Keeping name(s) a secret?

Question

My husband and I have decided to keep the names we picked for our baby secret until baby arrives. Who else is keeping the name a surprise?

We decided to keep it quiet when family members started criticizing everything we liked. Our moms are pissed about it but I'm pissed they ruined a few of my favorite choices haha 😂

I don't tell many people what we plan on naming her because Im afraid a lot of people will use the name also Lol

We announced her name after the gender reveal, on a separate occasion. Everyone would ask if we had names picked out beforehand, and I'd say, "nothing set in stone yet," even though we already knew this would be her name. We weren't saying it all throughout pregnancy for someone who was farther along to "take" our name. I figured that if we announced this way, in a big fashion, no one would take her name because they'd look stupid if they did, because everyone would already know that WE had chosen this name. So no, we aren't keeping it a secret until after birth. No one had any negative opinions or comments, either. Her name is perfect, just like her. 💕

We were surprised for our first and kept the names for both genders a secret. It worked out best because we chose a unique name for our son (not made up, or "out there," but not popular - only 83 people in the US have this name apparently) and had we told everyone before birth we would have been inundated with suggestions and possibly even dislike for the name. Once he was born and we told everyone, the name was a hit. I guarantee had we said something beforehand they would not have liked it. We are doing the same for our daughter. We have had her name for a while now but it is a secret. The only one who knows besides my husband and myself is my L&D nurse who got it out of me during the birth of my son! Lol it is also another unique name (just uncommon, I think only a few thousand out of many millions have it) but she absolutely adored it, so I'm hopeful the family will too. 😍

I was lucky to get my husband to wait 2 weeks to tell people gender at the gender reveal party.  He slipped up like 10x, but covered his tracks. We aren't keeping it a secret, but that's because we fail at secrets lol

We are keeping our name ideas secret from everyone except my mom and my husband's best friend. It's not that we don't want to tell people, but I had a girl's name I was absolutely in love with and was telling people and so many people said they hated it that I ended up deciding not to use it. I don't want any of the names we have picked out now to get ruined so no one gets to know until baby is born.

We r gonna tell people when we send out the baby shower invites. And have his name on it too. But I don't blame u for not wanting to tell people. Only reason we r doing it then is bc some people told us they want to get stuff personalized for the shower.
