Anyone else dilated? a finger tip at 33 weeks

This is my first baby and I am already Dilated a fingertip and am only 33 weeks. The funny thing to me is I have period type cramping but not even Braxton hicks contractions that I know of. I know some women can stay at about a finger tip after their first birth but since this is my first delivery should I worry about early delivery?? Anyone else already dilating?

You're probably having the BH but you can't feel them. I am having period like pain and I'm on the verge of preterm labor. I am having BH that I can't feel and real contractions as well. Has your doctor given you an NST?

I'm at FTM, and at 32 weeks, my OB checked me and I was 2 cm dilated. Literally the next day, I went into preterm labor and the nurse checked and I was still 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced..something my doctor didn't mention. The doctor on call said he was a little worried so they kept me overnight and all night and into the next morning, I was having contractions (that I didn't feel) but they eventually lightened up. They gave me medication and sent me home. Here I am at 33 weeks 3 days and I haven't phased any and I'm not having contractions. It was definitely scary. My doctor is wanting her to stay in there until at least 35 weeks.

How are people feeling dilated? Can you tell? I always have pelvic discomfort and even lightning crotch but this morning when I went to pee my pelvis felt so sore. Had me wondering what shape things were in down there.

Doubtful. Your body slowly moves toward active labor, but there is no magic number that decides that you are ready to go into labor. I was 2cm dilated from 34 weeks with my first (OB started checking at 32 weeks), and never went into labor.

Did they check you at 33 weeks or do you check your own cervix?  I have my 33.5 week appt tomorrow and I'm wondering when they begin checking.

Dilation is not a true indicator for labor. You can walk around for weeks at 5 cms dilated and not be in labor, or you can go from a 1 to 10cms in a matter of a couple hours. As a FTM, as long as there aren't other complications, you will most likely not deliver early. I don't get cervical checks until 41 weeks because of they are not great indicators and can introduce infection and also risk a premature/accidental rupture of membranes.

I'm 1 1/2 cm and am 32 1/2 weeks. I think it's a lot more common with moms who've had a baby before. Im only like 30% effaced so they don't seem worried.

I can't feel all of them. I feel one every once in a while when it's really bad. But on the fetal monitor I can see them
